about

Vertige is a multifaceted project whose ultimate purpose is to reconcile humans with their own reflection.

Its first manifestation takes the form of a record, gathering tracks around the ambivalent meaning the word embodies. Whether it is the fear of emptiness filling us everytime we contemplate nature’s immensity, or the love passion that can sometimes completely take over our rationality. Despite their apparent contradiction these sensations turn out to be one and the same emotion : the Vertige’s attraction.

Every track on the record tries, in its own way, to relate to one aspect of Vertige. The different pieces are then arranged in order to compensate each other and tell the story of the eternal war between fear of void and love. Thus, those two opposite figures would ultimately reveal themselves as a unique entity, a condensed reflection of all the depths of existence.

If Flagalova takes us first into a meditative state full of peaceful melodies, it is only to cause a larger shock when he then propel us right on the edge of the ‘Ravin’. Chams’ ‘Tout en chacun’ deals for its part with Vertige by interpreting it as love in its purest form, totally naive, fusional, and stripped of any disruptive factor.

On ‘XCV’, a disorienting piece of minimalist melancholia, Nunu brilliantly depicts a devastated landscape where fragments of beauty are struggling to resist to their unavoidable annihilation. Oversized arpeggios are then wrapped in harsh but intricate drum patterns in Ytem’s ‘Autel’. Finally, Ptwiggs close the Vertige’s voyage with ‘Leaving’, orienting one last time the mind in the vastness of absolute eternity.
